She died during the time of the Decian persecution (249-251 AD). In the Middle Ages, especially in southern Germany, bread, candles, fruit and letters were blessed in her name to ward off destruction by fire. Hospitality

We are privileged to live in this beautiful part of Canada and as Christians will extend this privilege and welcome to visitors. You can start by joining our Hospitality Group. Our coffee gathering after the Sunday mass is in need to people to help set up or clean up after coffee. Ask Ada about how you can help.
We are also in need of people to come early on Saturday evenings (6:15 pm) to help set up the chairs for weekend masses.

St. Anthony the Abbot Saint Day Jan. 17th
Also known as Anthony the Great, Anthony of Egypt and Anthony of the Desert he was a hermit and Father of Monks from 251 AD. Most of what is known about Saint Anthony comes from the Life of Anthony. Written in Greek around 360 by Athanasius of Alexandria, it depicts Anthony as an illiterate and holy man who through his existence in a primordial landscape has an absolute connection to the divine truth, which always is in harmony with that of Athanasius as the biographer.
Our Steering Committee has a report update on the construction of the new Shrine church. You can get a copy of the report at the grocery card table or go to the website at Shrine Updates.
