Registration: $15 per person or $30 for a family. A LETTER FROM FR. WILBERT Time flies. I can’t believe it’s already September. I hope you had a wonderful summer. On the other side of this letter is the half year financial report of the parish. I am very pleased with how we have done this year so far. I hope you realize that this is the first year for us to be on our own as a parish. It’s an important year for finding out how much we actually make and spend in a given year. This year’s performance becomes the baseline for our future financial budgets. At a glance, this is how we’ve done over the first six months: Income Total $ 116,158 Expenses Total $ 102,218 Profit (Loss) $ 13,940 profit Weekly Average Income $ 4,468 Expenses $ 3,931 Rectory Mortgage Purchase of Rectory 2015 $324,883 Diocesan Subsidy $172,236 ————- Total Loan of the Parish $152,647 Principle Paid to date $ 2,885 Loan Outstanding Sep 1, 2016 $149,762 Interest Paid to date $ 5,367 I really am moved by your generosity. Many of you go out of your way to offer help and extend financial support to our parish operations. This, of course, is aside from the overwhelming generosity I witness that you have towards the building of the new church. Please know that I truly appreciate your sense of stewardship and your generosity towards God. It is my hope that we continue to rise and truly remain in the black [profit], with being in deficit becoming a distant memory of the past. Thank you! Parish attendance at Mass has noticeably been on the rise this summer. Last Sunday’s 11 am Mass even felt like it was Christmas Eve. I am especially touched by the effort made by some parishioners whom I know have odd work hours, but try their best to find time to go to one of the Sunday Masses. This is a heroic love of God. You will be rewarded for your efforts. Know that you inspire me, and you strengthen the Church supernaturally. Connected to this, the number of people coming to weekday Masses and to Adoration is also increasing. The base has gone from around four when I first started last year to around 12 now. Some days there are more than 30 people in church for daily Mass. You are a pastor’s dream! More events and activities are in store this fall, winter, and spring. We can only go up from here as long as we keep ourselves open to God. We have a wonderful Office Team, a fantastic Parish Pastoral Team, a diligent Steering Committee, a growing number of groups and committees involved in different aspects of parish life, such as the Music Ministry team, the Spirituality & Formation team, etc. Right now, we are almost done with the new approach to weddings in our parish, one of the ways we want to extend greater hospitality. There are also many individuals who offer support and who are trying to find their way of contributing to the parish. We will continue to improve and find new ways of becoming your parish in Canmore, that when you’re here, you’re home! Thank you for your continued generosity. Many people in fact drew near to Jesus, they wanted to be included among his followers; and this would happen especially after some miraculous sign which accredited him as the Messiah, the King of Israel. However Jesus did not want to disappoint anyone. He knew well what awaited him in Jerusalem and which path the Father was asking him to take: it was the Way of the Cross, the way of sacrificing himself for the forgiveness of our sins.
